A year ago, I started something I never thought I would take seriously, which was my blog.  I had tried writing blogs before college started, but it was too boring and tedious for my taste.  As I got older though, and realized how unrealistic it was to be a writer with no backup plan, I started to take blogging seriously since I could make a career out of it, and get ideas at the same time.  When I first started blogging, ideas flowed like crazy, and I was writing close to 30 times a month.  Naturally, the numbers went down with school and other responsibilities, but I still blogged 15-25 times a week.  Some topics were interesting, like films or sports, while other things looking back, never should have seen the light of day (like soap).  But that's how writing goes, and I'd rather write something down than nothing at all.

With that in mind, I'd like to start off the day by saying Happy Anniversary to my blog for lasting a year, which I never thought it would be able to do.  I wish I could take all the credit for it as the author, but there's a few people I'd like to thank for it succeeding the way it has.  First, I'd like to thank my friend Quincy, since he was the one who inspired me to create a blog in the first place.  And even though he doesn't blog much anymore, I still blog for him in spirit.  Secondly, I'd like to thank all of my friends because of their reading and support of this blog.  I know I couldn't do it without you guys.  Lastly, I want to thank you readers/viewers since I wouldn't have my blog without you guys.  I know you all are busy with your own lives, so regardless of whether you comment or view it, I just want you to know, it all matters.  Thank you!

1 year has come and gone, so now it's time to make year 2 even better!

New Year's Resolutions

With New Year's day now over, I'm doing what many people are doing/have done, and thinking of resolutions I want to accomplish.  Some people are picking "getting a girlfriend", or "winning the lottery" as resolutions, but I don't think that works since it has to be something that you alone can accomplish.  Although, if those did count as resolutions, I'd want those same things.  Since they don't though, here are some things I want to accomplish this calender year.

In no particular order...
  • Graduate from college: It's my 5th year at school, so hopefully this is the year.
  • Stay in contact with one friend from college: This sounds easy, but if you live off campus and are introverted like myself, it's difficult meeting any people.
  • Get a job: This needs no explanation.
  • Learn to drive: Not something I really want to do, but this would be a major achievement for me and maybe make my life easier.
  • Lose 5-10 pounds: For my health and self-esteem.
This isn't much, but it's a start and they're realistic goals.  I don't know if I'll be able to do all of them, but with a whole new year ahead of me, sky's the limit.

The Year In Review

There's only a few hours left in 2013, which is hard to fathom, considering how I never thought I'd make it to this point so many times this year.  During those times, things really did feel that bad, but now that I've had some time to reflect, they weren't that terrible;  I struggled with family, relationship, and school issues like any person, but I got through them to have one of my best years in ages.  Yes, lots of my friends moved away, but I've still been in contact and seen some of them.  I got my best grades in school this past calender year, and I've progressed a lot in terms or my confidence, which is important for the future.  It's always sad to move on from something good, but no need to feel down, since that just means more opportunities in the future.

It's not New Year's yet, but Happy New Year everyone!  Let's make 2014 as great as 2013 was!

I often ask/wonder what New Year's means, and this sums it up pretty nicely
