Apink: My Favorite/Top 16 Songs

Before I start this post, let me tell you a little story.  One time when I was taking a writing class in college, I was given a piece of information I never forgot.  At the time, I was considering becoming a freelance writer, because I didn't know if being a novelist/writer was what I wanted or ideal.  Taking notes, I remember the teacher telling me that if you want to get a person's attention, do an article/post with lists or numbers, since those really catch people's attention.  And the numbers often indicate to them how much time they'll spend reading/looking at the subject matter.  I remember being skeptical, but then realizing how right that teacher really was.  I look at lists such as top 10's all the time, and when it comes to making lists, that is something I enjoy.  It's challenging, and always subject to change, but it's great to get the creative juices flowing and analyze why something is important enough to be even be ranked in the first place.  Not many things in life are important enough for me to do that for, but Apink/KPop is one of them.  Recently, I've been checking out various Youtube channels that had top 10 songs for groups, and was inspired to do one for APink, because they are my bias group, and I was curious why I liked certain songs more than others?  I love all their songs, but WHY?  It was a subject matter that I really wanted to delve into, so I took out my notebook and my headphones to concoct my 16 favorite/top Apink songs.

Songs on this list will be ranked based on various criteria, wherever applicable: How the song sounds, lyrics, interpretation/meaning, MV, choreography, repeat-ability, etc.  Regardless of reason, it will have something to do with me.  This list/ranking is just my opinion, and since it's Apink, is certainly likely to change.  But I hope you all enjoy!  You might even be surprised.

Honorable Mention- Perfume (from Pink Memory): I know I'm sort of cheating including an honorable mention to a list of 16 things (which is long enough on its own), but I had to give this Apink song the recognition it deserves.  I narrowed it down to "I Need You" and "Hush", but ultimately chose "Perfume".  When I first heard it, I really didn't like it.  Didn't sound anything like them, but then I slowly kept listening to it more, and loved the beat of it.  If they ever did a band concept, this would be the song I think they would pick.  I could picture them performing it with all their instruments.  And I could see myself performing it on Guitar Hero/Rockband, or in my living room, which may or may not have happened, lol.  It's just such a jam and unique from their typical sound.

16. So Long (from Pink Blossom): This song made the list because of how sad and truthful it is.  On its own, it sounds that way, but if you read the lyrics, it's touching.  About two people who grow up together as friends, develop feelings, but don't realize it.  The girl seems to be hiding her feelings because she is afraid, while the guy seems oblivious (never been in that situation before...).  It seems because of what happened, they have to part, which just pulls at my string because of how real that is.  Also Namjoo and Eunji's part at the bridge.  Emotional.

 

15. Love Like A Fairytale/Once Upon A Time (from Pink Luv):  This song's lyrics are wonderful because it talks about love as it relates to fairytales, which is one of the oldest comparisons in the world, but still effective.  It talks about the girl's yearning to find their prince and find that glass slipper.  Not really saying that they want a fairytale love, but how long they are willing to wait.  Their belief in love is clear to feel in this song.  I also love how the end of the song plays something that sounds like a music box, which is also nostalgic of many fairytales and films of olden days past, such as Disney ones.  A nice, subtle touch.

 

14. 04/19 or April 19th (from Une Annee):  If you know about the history of this song, you know it's a song Apink wrote to celebrate the anniversary of their debut, as well as a thank you to fans.  I'm always a sucker for that stuff because it's nice to know the idols think about us the way we do them.  Also, Chorong wrote this song, which is a beautiful and touching composition.  This is a song that really shows their hard work and appreciation for how far they have come.  Every time I listen to it, a different memory comes up from their history.  But one image/performance always stands out that makes this song unforgettable.

 

13. What A Boy Wants (from Pink Memory): When it comes to picking a bias in a group, I have to be honest, usually I put maknaes last because I feel like they have to earn my attention, being so young.  But that wasn't the case with Hayoung.  She's never really been cute the way a maknae should be, she is more beautiful/gorgeous.  But the thing I like most about her is how active she is, not just socially, but in terms of the group.  And that is very true with this song, that she wrote!  That is an achievement in itself since many idols do not write their own songs, let alone good ones, but she did, here.  The song is catchy and very interesting, once again highlighting an oblivious lover.  The girl seems to know how she feels, but wonders why the guy doesn't know, which is what she wants.  After all the songs Apink has sung, you think they'd know us guys are dumb, lol, but their songs still hit us in the right spot, and this is one of them.  One of the best songs off Pink Memory, in my opinion.

12. LUV (from Pink Luv): Finally, a main title track song has made the list.  "LUV" is one of Apink's most popular songs, being commercially and critically well received for its vocals and mature, yet innocent tone, compared to many of their cute songs.  They were already popular when this song was released in 2014, but this song cemented their status as not just one of the best girl groups in Korea, but one of the top groups, overall.  Personally, I love the way the song is arranged/composed; it's a lot different with having Eunji and Bomi lead off the songs with the chorus, Naeun is part of that too, as well as Chorong at the end, which I love.  It gives the others a chance to shine.  The music video is also very sad in tone, which is very fitting of the autumn look they were going for.  Honestly, I used to loathe this song because it wasn't as upbeat as some of their other main tracks, but its vocals touch me.  And that has always counted when it comes to APink.    

 

11. Sunday Monday (from Pink Blossom): This is one of Apink's favorite songs, and when you listen to it, it's no wonder why.  Its message about loving someone, everyday and wanting to be/see them, is a contagious and heartwarming message that really makes you think about the special moments you have with people.  Apink sings this song all the times to fans, which I find really sweet, because as a diehard Panda, it means a lot to know that they care.  As a pop song, this delivers on all levels, but I love the guitar sound in this song, because it really seems like a song that could be performed acoustically for that special someone.  And if anyone is good at capturing love, it's Apink.

10. NoNoNo (from Secret Garden):  I feel like not much has to be said for "NoNoNo"; it is one of Apink's iconic songs that launched the group into super-stardom after their short hiatus when they came back as 6 members.  There are so many reasons to love this song, but a few reasons why I love it are because of the lyrics, which are catchy and show how much of a healing song it is.  And the fact the MV gives so much fanservice, as well as shows the fun you can have in life to get over any negativity.  Eunji's high note at the end is an exclamation point.  When life gets you down, just say, NoNoNo (I went there, lol). 

9. Good Morning Baby (from Pink Luv): I feel as though few Apink songs are as refreshing as "Good Morning Baby".  It's so upbeat and hearing this song alone gives you a sign that it is going to be a good day.  But what does it for me is the choreography for this song, which is so fast paced, as well as the lyrics, which talk about a couple, and how one person loves waking up to another person because they're in love, but takes the time to appreciate every part of their day together because that is what makes it/them special.  I just feel rejuvenated when I listen to this song, so I hope you do as well.

8. Remember (from Pink Memory): Apink's most recent comeback has a special place in my heart because it was the first comeback of theirs that I followed once I officially became a Pink Panda.  The song itself has garnered mixed reviews from fans, it seems, but I love how unique it is.  The composition of the song mixes in a lot of different chords and sounds.  And visually, in terms of color and depth, I think it is the best looking music video.  The girls change hairstyles and sets many times, it literally feels like you are going with them on a vacation (can I, please).  One other thing I also love is the fact the choreography matches the lyrics, such as when they are writing on the sand; that is my favorite part, as well as the fact all the girls get so many lines.  A great comeback by Apink, in my opinion, perfect for summer, and one of their standouts for sure.

   

7. Secret (from Pink Luv): This song does so much for me.  It is a ballad, but not the typical, slow one I think many are accustomed to.  One thing I love about the Pink Luv album is how the sound is so mature, and how prominent Apink's vocals are.  Their look and choreography are great, but any group can have that.  Not many groups have vocals, which Apink has, especially soulful ones, like they have in this song.  When they sing this, I feel as though I am transported to some venue and just listening to them tell me their secret.  It gives me a blues vibe, which fits in with how emotional the vocals are.  Just powerful!

 

6. Attracted To U (from Pink Memory): I'm sure I will surprise people putting "Attracted to U" so high on the list, but this song touches me so much on an emotional level when it comes to love and relationships.  First off, it's a ballad, which scores major points.  But its lyrics capture a feeling so perfectly.  Apink has always been good at that, and it's no different here, as the girls sing about that feeling when they realize they like somebody.  Things are different to them, days seem longer, sad songs on the radio seem different than before.  It is so truthful.  Its choreography/performance live is something I also love.  It's simplistic, but still shows off their gracefulness.  Check out its lyrics, and I think you'll be impressed.  This song isn't a main title track, but has so much emotion it it.

 

5. Secret Garden (from Secret Garden): Apink has done so many ballads that it is hard to pick the best one, especially since they all have good vocals and each one is a standout in its own right.  But "Secret Garden" has always been one of my favorite gems.  Its lyrics are wonderful, about opening yourself up to a person, but I love the MV because of how simplistic it is.  The girls have on little makeup, are dressed up in white to represent their goodness/purity.  And with such minimalist detail, we are left to focus on Apink and the scenery, which is I often do, anyways.  The standout thing about this song, though, is that everyone sings in the chorus, not just Eunji, Bomi, or Namjoo, one of the few times it happens.  And I don't just mean backing vocals, everyone does.  All of the member's have wonderful vocals, but when they sing in harmony, it's beautiful.  It reminds me of another song I love, "How Deep Is Your Love", by the Bee Gees, since they sang in harmony all the time.  The girls rarely do this, but when they do, it's special, memorable, and you remember why you fell in love with them in the first place.  I've listened to this song so many times, now I just hope to see it performed live, someday.

4. BubiBu (from Une Annee): KPop is big on aegyo, and if there is any Apink song that personifies cuteness, this might be it.  This song off Unee Annee wasn't the main title track, but it was one of the promoted singles.  And for good reason.  It's so damn catchy and cute, and the choreography might be one of my favorites.  But its lyrics are what catch my eye, in unison with its cute theme.  It seems to represent the feelings a girl or person might have for someone, but they can't explain it, so it's BubiBu.  I don't know about you guys, but that is so sweet and true of when you fall in love.  You are all over the place, and it's hard to often pinpoint how you feel.  One thing is for sure, this song is wonderful and magical.  When I hear BubiBu, I just think of magic because that's what falling in love is really like, such as when I fell in love with Apink <3.

3. Mr. Chu (from Pink Blossom): If you know anything about me, you know why this song is on here.  But if you don't, let me explain.  "Mr. Chu" was the first Apink song I ever heard in my life, and it made me fall in love with these 6 magical/wonderful girls.  That alone is a reason why it is so high, because it has lots of sentimental value for me.  But aside from that, the song is a triumph.  It's catchy, cute, it's choreography is in synch and one I do often; its lyrics once again capture a specific moment in a relationship, which I love.  It's music video is one of my favorites, with its brightness/colors.  And the image that if you like someone, the best thing to do is be patient.  As well as the fact that the best present is yourself.  I get such feels from this song, especially for APink.  Hearing it for the first time, you know why it's a hit.  If it wasn't for "NoNoNo", I think this would be their signature song.

2. I Don't Know/Mollayo (from Seven Springs of Apink): The only Apink song I call by its Korean name is their wonderful debut song, "Mollayo".  Sometimes, debut songs can be forgettable, but not the case with Apink.  Their debut song was so fresh with its lyrics about how a guy is so dense, he doesn't realize she likes him, lol, as well as the MV, which has so many memorable moments.  I always remember seeing Naeun, first, and how she introduces us to Apink, Gikwang being knocked out (how did that happen), Bomi bumping into the door, Eunji giving a bookmark, etc.  Little makeup, not too many fancy sets, just the girls belting their hearts out and singing.  A debut song is just supposed to let the world know you have arrived, but Apink didn't just do that with this song, they showed off their cuteness, while at the same time, showing the skills they had, as well as a consistency and sincerity they would continue to have throughout their whole career.  The song is just amazing, but Eunji's high note at the end speaks volumes.  It's 2016 and 2011 was a long time ago, but "Mollayo" will always be their first song.  And one of the best debut songs ever for a KPop group.

1. My My (from Snow Pink): Now, my favorite/top Apink song of all time is, "My My" from Snow Pink.  I admit, if I could have, I would have put this and "Mollayo" as my top songs, but I wanted to be truthful to this list, so I put this at number 1, which was a tough decision to make, when I love all their songs.  This song has a lot of traits as "Mollayo": cute, wonderful choreography, and strong vocals, but one thing I love about it, like many Apink songs, is that it sounds like they are singing directly to you.  "You're My My", sounds like they are saying I am their special person, which resonates instantly with me.  Not to mention, it has wonderful line distribution and a MV that starts off sweet, but then gets fierce with its memorable imagery, such as them partying and then dancing in NBA jerseys, which was so memorable/standout and ahead of its time.  It was just such a unique and wonderful look.  I think overall, that is what sets it apart from "Mollayo".  I love that song, but this song just refines everything a little bit more.  Their dance and vocals have improved, and they are even more cute in a song with lots of color, fanservice, and an Eunji high note.  That is a winning combination for me, and why Apink is My My!

 

So, here are my favorite/top 16 Apink songs!  With the girls still being active, it is certainly not finite and subject to change at any time.  This was one of the hardest lists I ever had to write (I'm already thinking of changing some of the choices now, lol), but I enjoyed the challenge and examining why I love Apink so much.  I hope you enjoyed reading and gained more of an appreciation for these 6 wonderful girls like I have.  One cliche thing I hate about KPop is when someone says a group's songs all sound the same, but you can tell from this list that is not the case.  Even if songs do have similarities, there is a special meaning or story for all of them that make them stand out.  Which ones are your favorites?  Happy Valentine's Day!  And thanks for reading!   Apink, fighting!  SARANGHAE <3

My Choices For Guest Speaker

Over the weekend, my school's commencement took place.  I didn't go for my own personal reasons, but heard it was quite an event from social media.  Not just because so many students were finished with school forever, but because Bill Nye the Science Guy gave a speech to the students.  I still have yet to see any pictures, but it's cool that someone I idolized and watched growing up actually came to my school.  It makes me wish I went, but I didn't, and I can't change the past.  One thing it did make me do was think about who I'd want to speak at my graduation if I had a choice.  It sounds like it would be easy with all the people we pay attention to or like, but I tried discussing it with classmates a few weeks ago, and had a hard time.  Time has passed, so I have a few choices in mind, but even now, I'm still unsure.

My only criteria for who I've chosen is that they have to have gone to college, had some higher form of education (because it makes little sense to have a dropout give students advice.  It's unrealistic for them to succeed with no degree), or succeeded in life.  If they meet that, anyone qualifies.  So without further ado, here's my list (so far) in no particular order...

• Patrick Stewart: The guy was Jean-Luc Picard on Star Trek: The Next Generation, leading the Enterprise, plays Charles Xavier, and is an accomplished stage actor, with a knowledge of Shakespeare.  He'd fit in well at my school.
• Steven Spielberg: What else needs to be said about the director who has basically done everything?
• Anderson Cooper: One of the best journalists out there, who appeals to different generations with his interview and writing style.  I think lots of students would be excited by him.
• The Williams Sisters: Two women who not only changed tennis for women, but sports in general.  Their stories are very inspirational, and they are one of the main reasons why I like tennis so much. 

My Favorite K-Pop Music Video Reactors

One of the best things about K-Pop, besides the artists/idols, fashion, and music are the dedicated fans.  There's obviously the fans in Korea (who are great), but I always found it cool that their music stretched to all corners of the globe.  And that most artists and groups have fandoms, such as Hottest for 2PM.  But another thing I love about K-Pop fans is when they make music video reactions.  I like to watch people do things, such as play video games, but usually, I can't stand watching someone watch something, but with K-Pop, it's different.  Maybe it's the music that attracts me to it, but regardless of the reason, I love watching them because it's a chance to see how other people feel about something I enjoy.  Not to mention, the various personalities, which are entertaining, and the fact they're all doing it because they love K-Pop too.  I still consider myself new to the music, but it's great to see people so dedicated because it makes me realize that K-Pop is more than what it is.

My Dream K-Pop Groups

As I've been listening to more and more K-Pop, I've come to a few realizations.

• K-Pop is awesome and a mixture of just about every genre.
• I'm surprised more people don't like it.
• I wish I could be a K-Pop idol.

The first 2 realizations are probably pretty obvious if you follow K-Pop, but the 3rd one is one most don't usually expect because of the stigma of being an idol (especially a pop one).  But to those naysayers, I ignore them because being a K-Pop idol is great.  You sing, dance, go on tours to different countries, get lots of royalties, etc; it's something I dreamed about to some degree as a child since after loving the Backstreet Boys, I always wanted to be in a group myself.  Yes, there are negatives like the so-called "slave contract", and idols virtually have no free time or privacy, but it's not like that for everyone, and most look like they enjoy that lifestyle.  Alas, I know that will never happen to me.  I'm too old, can't sing, and can't speak a lick of any other language.

This got me thinking though, if I couldn't be in a group, what if I could make dream groups assembled with my biases/favorite members?  I know my dream groups could never be assembled in real life, but even if they couldn't, it'd still be cool to think about, so I thought of my dream male and female idol groups.  I have to admit, since I'm still relatively new to K-Pop, the lists and groups are small, but it's a start, and it gives you a taste of the groups that I like.

My only criteria is that I can't pick more than one member from a group, which is tough since I like multiple members from groups, but that's the only way to make it fair, and keep the members at a reasonable total.  Usually I have explanations for the choices I make on lists, but not this time, since these people are all my biases, which explains why I chose them in the first place.  With all that being said, here are my dream male and female K-Pop idol groups.

TV Shows I Wish Were On DVD

Recently, I found out that Bill Nye the Science Guy is coming to my graduation as one of the commencement speakers.  I wasn't planning on going since technically, I'm just walking, not graduating, and I start summer classes the next day, but it's pretty cool that someone I idolized and watched is coming to my school.  With that news, I've been checking out clips of his show, and other shows from my childhood on Youtube.  And I came away with the realization that a lot of the shows I like, besides being mostly cartoons, aren't out on DVD.  I understand why that is with copyright issues, and fear of low sales, but I still wish it was out, just so I could own it.  I know with Netflix and downloading, no one wants to buy stuff anymore, but as I always say, if you love something, you're willing to use money on it, and I love films and TV shows.  So without further ado, here's an alphabetical list of shows I love that aren't out on DVD, that I wish were.

My Favorite Generation I Pokémon

Recently, I've been getting back into Pokémon in more ways than I ever imagined.  I always played the games, but with no 3DS, I had to find some other alternative, which is why I've been getting into the trading card game. As a child, it seemed complicated with all of its coin flips and damage counters, but now, I know it's a pretty simple game to play.  Yesterday, I bought some cards online (showing my addiction to the game), but like all card games, it gets expensive because I always want to buy collectable/older cards.  Sure, I could buy newer cards (and I have), but I grew up with the first two generations of Pokémon the most, so I want those cards in my deck.  Plus, I just like/know most of the Pokémon in general.  That got me thinking though, when it came to the first generation, what were my favorite Pokémon?  I looked back on my main party from those games, but those weren't accurate, since they just represented Pokémon that were there for convenience.  Let's be honest, we all had a Pidgeot, but it was never one of our favorites; it was there just because we didn't want a Fearow or legendary.  So with this question on my mind, I thought long and hard about which Generation I Pokémon were my favorites.  It took awhile, but after thinking about it, I think I have my answer.

Criteria for my favorite Generation I Pokémon is judged by a mix of variables.  I chose some of them based on my use of them in the video games, card game, and my sentimental memory of them.  It's safe to say if I could ever have a main party with these 6, I would.  Without further ado, my favorite Generation I Pokémon are...

Honorable Mention

• Scyther: My friend Phu is going to kill me for this because he loves Scyther to death, but here me out.  I love Scyther now as a Pokémon, sometimes even more than Scizor, but back as a child, I couldn't stand Scyther.  It was a bug Pokémon, which I don't even really like, since like Misty, I just hate bugs.  And back then, it was so hard to get because you could only get it in the Safari Zone or the game corner, which took forever.  Sure, it might have been worth it, but back in Generation I, it didn't have a great move set, and its only real use was to cut trees, which is why it's an honorable mention.

6. Porygon: You'd think Porygon would be in the same boat as Scyther since it could only be gotten at the game corner, and it cost even more coins, but unlike Scyther, I was never afraid of Porygon.  Yes, it had the unfortunate seizure incident in Japan, but that wasn't its fault; that was because of high flashing animation.  Porygon might be weak, but I always thought it was cool that it was made out of cybernetics/technology, and I loved its annoying move set with the Conversion moves and Tri-Attack!

5. Snorlax: Snorlax is here because it's fat, eats, and sleeps a lot just like I used to.  And while I'm not that way anymore, I still remember those days.  They weren't always good times, but they were simpler because I wasn't always worrying about my health the way I do now.  In the old games, Snorlax was the sleeping Pokémon that you had to wake up using a PokéFlute, which I always thought was awesome.  It might not be the best at any specific stats, but I think it has an equal balance of everything.  Not to mention, it's versatile enough to learn HMs like Surf, and it's hard to knock out with its high HP and Rest move.  Considering I didn't like many water Pokémon besides Blastoise, Snorlax was a lifesaver.  

4. Marowak:  There's not much I can really say about Marowak.  In the original Generation, its main preference was that you had to kill it in the Lavender Ghost tower, so you could get by.  It was creepy, but an interesting plot to say the least.  Besides that, I love Marowak because it's different.  It has a skull on its head, always making me wonder how it looks underneath, and it throws a bone, which I always thought was cool since I liked boomerangs.  Its card in the trading card game leaves something to be desired, but there is one version I like that I want, so it still has a special place for me.

3. Pikachu: Being the mascot of the entire Pokémon franchise, Pikachu seems like an obvious choice here.  It has a lot of supporters, but it has a lot of detractors as well.  And I can understand why.  It's not strong, is the main Pokémon of Ash (who sucks as a trainer), and it always loses to other Pokémon in the series, but I like it because it's cute, and a Pokémon my dad and I really connected with.  Not to mention, once it has the light ball and Volt tackle, it's pretty awesome!

2. Dragonite: Dragonite reminds me of the cryptozoology I follow, which has to do with mythical creatures, folklore, etc.  There's stories about it, but you never really see it, unless you capture one.  That's never more relevant then in the anime series when Ash and the gang see the giant one, but in the game, you can't capture one unless you raise a Dratini all the way up to level 55.  I admit, that is tedious, especially since you don't get it until later in the game, which by that point, you probably already have your main party.  But if you're like me and love dragons, you have to love Dragonite; its look, moves, and strength, what's not to like?  Plus, you can fish for it or get it at the game corner, which is always helpful.

1. Charizard: Do I even need to explain this one?  Charizard is the best!  I know a lot of people who hate it because of its popularity, and stat and card game wise, it isn't the best, but I don't care.  I was always fascinated with it as a child because I always thought it was a dragon.  And even though I learned later on it was a lizard, it doesn't change the fact there's so much to love about it.  It's strong, it's orange (which used to be my favorite color), and it breathes fire.  You can't get much better than that, and I really want its EX card, so if anyone wants to give me a near mint one, let me know.

Being The Patriots GM

After another loss in the postseason, Tom Brady and Bill Belicheck have to go back to the drawing board

The New England Patriots have done it again.  No, they haven't made it to the Super Bowl; they lost another game in the postseason.  It's not a surprise considering how the team was this year with injuries, and the fact so many factors favored the Denver Broncos yesterday, but being a Patriots fan, I expected better than what I saw.  The offense looked like crap with no run game, questionable play calling, and the defense couldn't get off the field to save their lives.  Now, the injury to Aqib Talib was a huge loss since he held Demaryius Thomas to nothing, but injuries happen to everyone in the league, including the Broncos yesterday.  As I said, I shouldn't have been surprised the Patriots lost, but this was the most I've been excited for them in years, so another loss is disappointing.

Despite that, I'm going to do what the Patriots are probably doing today, and move on toward the future.  With the off-season now here, there are many decisions the team has to make.  I usually don't second guess Bill Belicheck and Robert Kraft, but another loss means something has to be done.  I'm not the biggest football expert in the world, or a former general manager, but if I was their GM, this is what I'd do...

• I would upgrade at the WR position via the draft or free agency.  Sammy Watkins, the top receiver from Clemson, is a longshot for the Pats, so unless they trade up, they'll have to find someone else.  They should resign Julian Edelman (especially after the Wes Welker fiasco last year), but the Pats rarely pay players they should.  Hopefully they change their mind because Tom Brady needs some help, and it showed yesterday.
• This is a minor move that probably wouldn't help much, but I would get a FB who could help block.  FB use has died in the NFL every years since I started watching football consistently a decade ago.  And I can understand why, but there's no doubt somehow who could help block and catch would help #12.
• Get a few more playmakers at the DL and LB position.  The Pats defense is good when healthy, but even they are, they don't get enough pressure on the QB, or force enough turnovers.
• Lastly, I would improve the secondary with another safety to help Devin McCourty, or get another CB.  If you're wondering why the Pats need to do this, then you haven't been watching games this year.

I know I didn't focus on players that are in the draft or free agents, but information like that is speculative and still weeks away, so I figure I'd be broad since it addresses all the Patriots needs.  Of course, it's health that killed them this season, so hopefully, next season will be a lot different.  Until then, all we can do is wait.

Making The Food List, And Checking It Twice...

Lists are a popular thing in the world, used by media outlets, newspapers, and even by me on occasion whenever I need/want to rank or remember something.  I do rankings more than the latter, but it's still important when I want to do something such as go shopping for food at the supermarket.  Being so young, I still remember what foods to shop for, but on occasion, it helps to have a list to help remember what to shop for, especially if I need to buy a lot of food, which I usually do often.

Now that I'm back to trying to lose weight, and close to going back to school, I need to start listing foods to get and stay true to it.  Does that need I need to give up some foods all together?  Yes and no.  You don't have to give up all the foods you like just like that, but it helps to make better decisions, especially in my case when I have to lose weight for blood pressure, so here's a list of foods I can buy that will help me out, along with food I'm buying when I go to Costco this weekend.  I needed to write it down, so what better place than my blog, where I can check it all the time?

• Whole Grain/Wheat Bread

• Yogurt (Chobani)
• Nuts
• Granola Bars
• Cookies or Deli Meat (Because we all need one indulgence or meat when we're at college)

That's just a rough list for now, but it can be changed in time.  I don't know if I can get all the foods, but hopefully, I can get most of them, and start my road back to weight loss.  As usual, it'll be tough, but I know I can do it.

New Year's Resolutions

With New Year's day now over, I'm doing what many people are doing/have done, and thinking of resolutions I want to accomplish.  Some people are picking "getting a girlfriend", or "winning the lottery" as resolutions, but I don't think that works since it has to be something that you alone can accomplish.  Although, if those did count as resolutions, I'd want those same things.  Since they don't though, here are some things I want to accomplish this calender year.

In no particular order...

• Graduate from college: It's my 5th year at school, so hopefully this is the year.
• Stay in contact with one friend from college: This sounds easy, but if you live off campus and are introverted like myself, it's difficult meeting any people.
• Get a job: This needs no explanation.
• Learn to drive: Not something I really want to do, but this would be a major achievement for me and maybe make my life easier.
• Lose 5-10 pounds: For my health and self-esteem.

This isn't much, but it's a start and they're realistic goals.  I don't know if I'll be able to do all of them, but with a whole new year ahead of me, sky's the limit.

I'm Livin' For The Weekend: My Top 20 Weekenders Episodes

After many months waiting, I have finally finished the list that everyone has been waiting for: My Top 20 Weekenders Episode.  This seems like an odd list that would be what everyone has been waiting for, since you think they'd want something film or sports related, but I've looked at my statistics, and they show that people like my TV show posts and The Weekenders.  Mix them both together and you got my list.

For those of you who don't know what The Weekenders was/is, it was a TV show that aired on ABC in 1999, during the One Saturday Morning block.  The plot of the show revolved around 4 kids, Tino, Lor, Carver, and Tish as they got through their everyday lives with real word issues.  But the show had a few trademarks that made it distinct, such as only having things happen during the weekend, and having everyone wear different clothes.  Along with that, they also had numerous running gags, such as the local pizza joint changing every episode, Tino's mom's cooking, and everyone misunderstanding Tish's mother.  It was a great show, and while it was on, it was one of my favorites.  That's why when I finally got the DVDs, I was so excited to re-watch it and experience the memories.  It took a long time to do it, but now that I've had the free time to watch every episode and compile it, here's my finalized list.

20. Throwing Carver: Tish takes an art class at the museum, and makes her first masterpiece, a statue of Carver.  The only problem is that it's hideous, and the guys (especially Carver) don't know how to tell her.  This episode was great because it tackled the real life issue of how to tell someone something hurtful.  Although, I wish real life was as funny as this episode.  

19. Shoes Of Destiny:  Carver gets new shoes and is accepted by "The Cool Kids".  Now that he's cool though, he can't hang with his old friends anymore and has a tough decision to make.  This episode is here because I can relate to it in so many ways with my struggle to get cool shoes growing up.  I never really did to be honest, but luckily, people in college don't care.

18. Super Kids: After a seminar by a snotty, successful kid named Trip Nickerson, the gang decides they aren't doing anything with their lives and decide to try different things.  I remember this episode solely for how annoying Trip was yelling all the time, but I felt for him too since he was lonely.  The guys way of taking him out in the end was a sweet moment in this episode.

17. To Each His Own: Everyone in the group wants to go to different events that cater to their social interests, but no one is interested in what the other wants to do.  This episode screams real life since I think people are always put in situations where they do things they don't want to do.  I don't remember much humor in this episode, but I thought it was cool we got to see every person's individual interest.

16. Dead Ringer: Everyone has to sign up for a sport, but Tino's usual choice, chess, isn't there anymore, leaving him helpless until he discovers horseshoes.  Too bad it embarrasses him though.  This is another episode I could relate to because I stunk at sports back then, and I still do now.  I don't even think I'd be good at horseshoes, but I'd love to try.

15. Home@Work: Lor fails another exam, and has to pass her next one or else her dad is sending her off to military school.  Can the guys help?  I think this episode is hilarious because of how everyone tries to help Lor.  And who can forget Tish's annoying scream, along with the fact that video games save the day yet again.

14. Pudding Ball: The guys compete in the annual Pudding Ball competition, except it's Tino and Tish vs.Carver and Lor.  Personally, the plot of this episode is one of the simplest in the series, but I just love the whole competition aspect of it, and the fact that it reminded me of laser tag as a child. 

13. Murph: After one kid doesn't like Tino, he fears other kids don't like him, but it's only this one kid Murph, which Tino can't understand.  Because of this, he tries to do anything to gain his approval, which leads to hilarious and truthful results.  This episode speaks to the real life truth that no matter what you do, even if you're not bad, someone will dislike you.  Although, painting their house would be a good way to start changing that.

12. Best: Tino doesn't win a "Best" superlative in the yearbook, including "Best Tino", so he and the guys try to find something he's the best at.  I think this episode speaks to something everyone has wanted since childhood, just to be good at something.  And when you look at it that way, this episode is sweet.  Also, how could Tino not win "Best Tino"?  He's the best!

11. The Awful Weekend: We start off with the guys messy, injured, tired, etc, yet they can't stop laughing.  Why is that the case?  And how did they get to where they are?  This episode is fantastic to me because it shows how even when life sucks, as long as you have laughter or your friends, you can get through anything. 

10. Taking Sides: Carver costs Tino and him the pool championship by showboating, leading to a fight between them, and a rift between Lor and Tish as they must decide who was right.  I think the life lesson here is obvious, DON'T SHOWBOAT!  But it's hilarious to see Tino and Carver fight, along with Lor and Tish.

9. Tickets: Tino wins tickets to Chumbucket after being the 1,000,001 customer to order from the snack shack, but he can only take one friend, leading to hilarious competition between everyone, agonizing decision making for Tino, and one of my favorite endings of the whole series.  Everything is better when you spend it with friends.  And always read the fine print!  After playing so much Yu-Gi-Oh, I think truer words were never spoken.

8. Lone Wolves Club: Tino is invited to the exclusive and highly desired Lone Wolves Club, but the only way he can be a member is to do embarrassing things and leave his friends.  He's okay with doing one of the options, but obviously not the other, leading both parties to question what's right.  This episode is really funny because of all the nonsense Tino does, but I think it's high on my list because of the deepness of it.  Tino has to decide if he should ditch his friends, and when they find out, they have to realize if it's the best thing for him to leave. 

7. Vengeance: Carver is humiliated by this girl named Christy, so for the whole episode he tries to get revenge on her, which he eventually does, but he's too nice a guy to really do anything mean.  I loved the ending of this episode since it showed how much of a better person Carver and real people can be when they walk away from a situation.  Plus, after seeing him yell "CURSE YOU", that's what I do all the time now.

6. Secret Admirer: Someone has the hots for Carver, and it's driving him crazy trying to figure out who it is, but after he realizes who it is, he's not so happy anymore.  This is a sweet episode in the series because it's about love, which I always like.  While, it of course has humor because it's an animated TV series, it's serious in handling issues such as being shallow.  I do love how in this episode though, we find out Carver's head is pineapple shaped while Tino's is pumpkin shaped.

5. Nevermore: Halloween is here, which Tino is excited for, but the rest of the guys feel too grown up for it.  Will Tino spend his holiday alone, or does he have a plan up his sleeve to show his friends the true meaning of Halloween?  Out of all the episodes of The Weekenders, this one may be the most memorable because of the setting, which was a spooky living room, and all the lines and jokes in this episode, such as "Creepington, and "I'm Living' For The Weekend".  Who could also forget Tino's threats to his friends or his passionate speech?  Watching this episode, I was reminded of my own Halloween experiences, which were disasters. This also spoke to me of "It's A Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown", which is the highest compliment I can give anything.

4. Tino's Dad: The final episode of the series, and it's a memorable one to say the least.  Tino see's his dad for the first time since the divorce, which he's worried about, but it all turns out fine.  After the initial dust has cleared though, he realizes he has no time to spend with him.  Usually last episodes are the first on my rankings, but not this time.  I enjoy the episode since it truly shows the power of a father-son relationship, as well as friendship, but there were just a few episodes I enjoyed more.

3. Real Fake: The guys are videotaped by a student who tells them to be themselves.  By real, the guys think they have to be the people from their favorite TV show Teen Canyon, leading to hilarious and questionable behavior from our protagonists.  With the whole reality world craze we're in presently in, I thought this episode was perfect with the acting from all the characters and humor.  I just wish real reality shows had heart like this episode did.

2. Makeover: After Lor receives interest from Thompson, she catches the eye of two conceited girls who want to change her to look like a supermodel and get Thompson for good.  Luckily, in the end, Lor gets Thompson's attention, and does it by being her beautiful self.  I believe this episode is ranked number 2 for me because a guy or girl can relate to it.  We all have self esteem issues, but if you're a good person, then your beauty will show.  It also shows that you should never change who you are for someone else.

1. Worst Holiday Ever: The gang spends their December holiday together with Lor's granny, only to get stuck in the RV during a snowstorm.  It ruins their weekend plans, but they keep each other company by telling their worst holiday experiences, which were all diverse and different.  This is my number 1 episode because I love the plot of the episode, the overexaggerated humor, the ending, and being stuck talking with my friends over the holidays is something I always wish could happen.

Backstreet Boys: My Top 8 Songs

"The Boys Are Back In Town" is a classic song by the rock band Thin Lizzy, but for today, I'm thinking about it because of the Backstreet Boys.  They're back with their newest studio album in 4 years, and the first with the whole group since the "Never Gone" album, which was 8 years ago.  It's hard for me to believe that the Backstreet Boys have been around for 20 years because I grew up with them like everyone in my generation.  A lot of people I know can't stand them, but you have to show them respect for changing the pop genre forever, and being one of the few groups to still be around after all these years.  I admit, their sound isn't the same anymore since pop has changed, but they still look and sound good to me.  Yes, Brian, Nick, Howie, A.J, and Kevin may be older now, but they're still the Backstreet Boys.  And in honor of their 8th studio album, I thought it fitting to make a list of their top 8 songs.  This list was tough since they have so many songs, but I think I narrowed it down.

To start, I'll begin with...

8. "Get Another Boyfriend": There were other songs that were harder and louder than this song that almost made my list, such as "Everybody (Backstreet's Back), "Larger Than Life", and "The Call", but I picked this one over it since this was the first song of there's that I thought was so bad-ass.  I love the message behind the song, and I love their live performance of it.  So much swagger!

7. "Anywhere For You": A song from their first American and European album that didn't get as much publicity as it should have.  The song is about a guy who likes a girl that he's willing to go anywhere for.  The song screams pop, and is definitely sweet with its lyrics.  I like both versions of the song, but the European version is better because of the ending, which has an added bridge, so it sounds so much better.

6. "Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely": This song makes the list since it's one of the Backstreet Boys most powerful songs.  The lyrics are sad and powerful because they're so tragic, and the music video is so moving.  Whenever I watch it, it makes me think of the difficulties I have in life, so I reflect a lot, which is a mix of good and bad.

   
5. "The One": The title of this song alone would be enough.  The One symbolizing that one girl who's the one, but this song makes the list because of the music video, which is montage of clips of the group.

4. "I'll Never Break Your Heart": Along with one other song later in the list, this song is one of the ones I sing along to the most.  The sound is smooth, the video is romantic, and the lyrics represent something I hope I'll never do to a woman, which is break their heart. 

 
3. "Shape Of My Heart": I listen to this song constantly, and sing along with this song the most out of any Backstreet Boys song, which is why this makes my list.  Of course, the lyrics are great, and the music video which is tinted black and blue is unforgettable.  Vocals are outstanding here.  I just wish everyone had a part in the song since I think that's when the boys are at their best, but I can't complain here.

 
2. "As Long As You Love Me": "As Long As You Love Me" is the first Backstreet Boys song I fell in love with.  I remember the first time I heard it, which was on "Sabrina The Teenage Witch".  That was so long ago, but I remember it so vividly.  Hearing the song now though, I get the same feeling I had back then.  And now that I'm older, I agree with the lyrics, that no matter what a person did back then, I'll love them as long as they love me.  It's so sweet!  And the chair moves were fantastic too.

1. "If I Don't Have You": This song may have most of you scratching your heads since this song was never released in the Unites States.  It's only on their European album, but if you give it a listen, you'll love it too!  It's amazing!

Buying Yu-Gi-Oh Cards Again...

Recently, one of the longest streaks came to an end.  No, it wasn't Joe DiMaggio's 56 game hit streak, it was my streak of not ordering Yu-Gi-Oh cards online, which lasted a surprising 2 months.  I had been doing such a good job of not ordering cards, but once my friends started buying them again, I couldn't resist.  It's cost a few dollars, but I think it's well been worth it, especially since this time around, I'm wiser with my money, only buying a few cards at a time, and not going over my budget, which has helped a lot.  Since I'm into fusion cards, or any cards that can help my deck, the list of cards I've bought so far has been...

I don't know what cards I'll buy next, or when I'll order again, but all I can say is that I'm excited about dueling again, which is good since I lost some interest in it a few months back.  Till then, all I can do is wait for the mail with excitement in my heart.

My Top 6 Favorite Cereals

I like a lot of food, but one that really touches my heart is cereal.  That may be surprising to some because they only think of cereal as breakfast food, or something that doesn't taste that satisfying, but to me, I think cereal can be eaten at any time, and when it's the right cereal, can be as satisfying as any food (although I have yet to try it against cooked food like steak).  The only problem is, with so many different kinds of cereal available, how can you decide on which ones to try or eat?  I thought about this for awhile, but I didn't come up with the idea of ranking cereals until I ate my favorite cereal today.  I'll leave that answer till the end, but until then, here are my top 6 favorite cereals.

6. Kix: This puffed cereal maybe very plain in appearance, but it's taste is familiar and smooth.  Plus, it's mother approved, so at least you know it's a little healthy compared to other cereals on the market.

5. Fruit Loops: This cereal packs a lot of fruit into it's loops, and tastes better than the other competition, so that's why I love it.

4. Golden Grahams:  Out of all the cereals on this list, "Golden Grahams" is the one I haven't had the longest.  The last time I remember having it was in elementary school when they gave it for breakfast.  Back then, I was addicted to it because of how sweet it was (which was no surprise considering it was briefly pulled from stores because of it's high sugar), and it's design.  To me, this is a cereal that must be eaten with milk to experience both sides of it.

3. Apple Jacks: "Apple Jacks" is another cereal I haven't had in years, but this made my list because of its distinct taste it had (not tasting like apples), which I loved, and all the time I spent wondering why that was the case. 

2. Frosted Flakes: I don't think this needs an explanation since I know this is one of the most popular cereals out there.  The taste is amazing, and it's texture is something else.  It's crunchy, but in milk, it's arguably even better for me.

1. Honey Nut Cheerios: And now we have my favorite cereal, "Honey Nut Cheerios", which is no surprise to people if they've know me.  The honey taste is wonderful, it gets wet well in milk, and it helps lower cholesterol.  I hate to always emphasize good health as a reason for liking cereal, but most cereal has a lot of sugar, so it's nice to see a cereal helping you that tastes good compared to "Kashi" or something. 

NBA Free Agency Thoughts

Since it's summer, baseball is the main sport of focus, but that doesn't mean the other sports take a break.  Football has training camps, while hockey and basketball have free agency.  Hockey free agency is very active, but most of the players are people I've never heard of, so during the summer, I focus mostly on NBA free agency because after baseball, it's my favorite sport to follow.  This year's free agency is nothing like it was when LeBron James was a free agent, but that doesn't mean it's still not interesting.  Lots of players have taken their talents to new places, while some others have stayed.  And while everyone hasn't signed yet, here are some my thoughts on the players who have made decisions so far.

In no particular order...

• Chris Paul: CP3's resigning comes as no surprise to me or anybody considering the Los Angeles Clippers have done everything he wanted.  They got rid of Vinny Del Negro for Doc Rivers, which is a plus, and they added and traded players (i.e, Eric Bledsoe).  I still don't know if the Clippers can compete for an NBA title, especially with the West being stacked, and Black Griffin taking a step back this past year, but with arguably the league's top point guard and coach, they'll definitely be in contention.
• Dwight Howard: Dwight has finally chosen the Houston Rockets as his new team.  HALLELUJAH!  Praise the lord!  The baby made a choice.  I don't want to criticize Dwight, since I think he means well, but it's hard not to with the decisions he's made the past two years.  He goes back and forth with his decisions, is a terrible teammate, and whines about a lot.  Let's just hope that because he's picked a new team, he'll stay there and keep his mouth shut.
• Tyreke Evans: I've made it no secret that Tyreke Evans is one of my favorite players in the NBA, but it's hard to be a fan with his regression since his rookie year.  That year, he was averaging 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists, but since then, all those stats have gone down, and he's been injured off and on.  You can blame his poor play on the coaching staff, the fact that he never had a set position on the Sacramento Kings, or his overall effort.  I don't know if I want to go there because I watch a lot of Kings games, and I see that he tries, but he takes plays off too.  I'm not surprised Tyreke is leaving the Kings (I even thought it'd happen at the trade deadline), I just thought it wouldn't be for the New Orleans Pelicans.  He didn't know where he'd play in Sacramento, but where's he going to play in New Orleans with all the players they have?  I honestly don't know, but I wish him the best.  I'll still root for him, but it won't be the same now that he's not wearing the Sacramento purple.
• Andre Iguodala: One of the most balanced and underrated players in the league agreed to a 4 year deal with the Golden State Warriors yesterday, which I can't praise enough.  The Warriors were already good, but with "Iggy", their defense got better, and they're even more spectacular than before.  Los Angeles may have Kobe Bryant and "Lob City", but Golden State may have the best team in California.
• Al Jefferson: "Big Al" agreed to go to the Charlotte Bobcats on July 4, which was a surprise decision that many people frowned on, but I like the move for owner, general manager, and greatest NBA player of all-time Michael Jordan.  The Bobcats need talent and a player they can build around.  Al Jefferson may not be a top 20 player, but he's one of the best young big men in the league, with good health and consistency.  Something that's hard to find in any big man and on the Bobcats.  I doubt they'll make the playoffs any time soon, but this signing is a step in the right direction.
• David West: Not much to say here.  David West agreed to resign with the Indiana Pacers.  He did great with them last year, and bought a lot of tenacity with his play, so I expect that to continue.
• O.J Mayo: This is a baffling signing to me, but only because of the destination, which was the Milwaukee Bucks.  I have no problem with the city, but the team's roster is up in the air until they figure out what to do with Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis.  The only thing I got from this decision is that all O.J Mayo cares about is money, which is no surprise with the way the NBA is structured.
• J.R Smith: J.R Smith has been called the best scorer in the NBA before, which is a bit of a stretch, but when he's on, he's hard to stop.  In New York last year, he was on his "A" game often, being one of the team's best players and winning Sixth Man Of The Year Honors.  For that reasoning, I thought he should be resigned, but there's risk in the move because of J.R Smith's conduct and mindset.  He's not the most behaved player (like what he did in Boston), and he makes a lot of bonehead plays, but there's no doubt he can play and fits into what the New York Knicks want to do.  A big contract for him in my eyes spells trouble though.
• Ray Allen: Not really a free agent, but he had an option, so I put him here.  It still hurts to see Ray Allen in a Miami Heat jersey, but I got over it.  I though he might retire on top, but you know what they say.  "If something still works, don't fix it".  The Heat have that formula down, so with Ray Allen, they're going to try for a three-peat. 
• Kevin Martin: Kevin Martin is a nice player, but nowhere near the hype or money he's gotten.  For a sixth man, he was overpaid.  And at the end of the day, he chose to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Minnesota Timberwolves.  What a great decision!  I'm being sarcastic of course.  With this move, it's clear where Kevin Martin's mindset was.  Man, what idiots the Thunder must feel though for trading James Harden, and now losing the player they traded him for.  That's NBA free agency though.

Trading Cards: A Gold Mine

Trading cards are a funny thing to me.  Back when I was a child, I played with them like anyone else, but I had no idea when I got older that some of them would become gold mines.  They're pieces of plastic for goodness sake, but trading cards are much more than that or the picture on them.  They represent a part of youth that gets lost as you get older, and also represent competitive collecting or playing depending on your forte.  As I look back on trading cards now that I'm playing Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon, I'm amazed at the sheer power these cards command.  Not just in their strength, but as I said, value.  It led me to find this list online, which I found interesting, which are the Top 10 priciest cards in all trading cards.   You may still think trading cards are worth nothing, but this list, and people's wallets, say otherwise.

Jackie Chan Adventures: My Top 12 Talismans

Recently, I've been getting back into the show Jackie Chan Adventures, the cartoon about a fictional Jackie Chan, who is an archaeologist that saves the world from evil villains.  Looking back, the show was pretty ridiculous with what it had Jackie do, like fight with fish, or on pyramids, but the show's concept was cool.  And all the stunts they had Jackie do were borrowed from his film career, which is something I didn't figure out till recently.  I'm only on season 2 of series, which is with the demon portals, but I did watch all of season 1, with the talismans, which are stone objects that have powers based on each Chinese Zodiac animal. They're all pretty powerful, but here's my top 12...

12. Tiger (Power Of Balance): As cool as it would be having two of myself, I'd hate my good and evil half being split up since that would weaken me, so that's a no.

11. Pig (Laser/Heat Beam-Eye Blasts): I like firepower as much as the next person, but if I want that, I can just use the Dragon Talisman.  Plus, having this talisman would mess up my glasses.

10. Sheep (Astral Projection): One of the most useless talismans in the series that it was sparingly used.  The only reason it's not last is because I'm a sheep myself, and astral projection isn't that bad.  I could float through the astral plain, and visit my friend's in their dreams.

9. Monkey (Animal Shape-shifting): I like this power, but it seems utterly useless besides for humor and enjoyment. 

8. Dragon (Power Of Combustion/Pyrokinesis): Shooting fire from my hands isn't anything special, but it's better than the Pig Talisman, and more convenient.

7. Snake (Invisibility): Being invisible would be cool, and I could get away with a lot, but eventually, I'd just want to be seen.
 
6. Rabbit (Super Speed): Speed is a bit overrated, but I still like this talisman, and the thought of being faster than anybody in the world.  Looks like instead of Superman vs. The Flash, it should be me instead.
 
5. Horse (Healing): I love the concept of the horse being the healing talisman (despite not fully understanding why it does that).  The only problem, like some talismans, is that it's only necessary in certain situations.  It is cool thinking of never being hurt though.  Wish I had that when I lost my fingertip.

4. Ox (Super Strength/Durability):  Need I say more?  Super strength would be great, and it would help me out at the gym, no problem.

3. Rat (Power Of Animation): The Rat talisman is so high because it would fulfill every childhood kid's dream of playing with their toys, and help me whenever I feel lonely.

2. Dog (Immortality): Living forever and being young at the same time definitely has it's perks (Look at Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z), but it would suck to live so long and see those I love pass before my eyes, so that's the negative of this talisman.

1. Rooster (Levitation/Telekinesis): This takes the top spot because I've always wanted to fly more than anything in the world.  Not just for the exhilarating feeling I would have, but because of how convenient it would be too.  I'd never have to do anything for myself; I could just use my mind.

My Top 3 Pet Peeves

Usually, I consider myself a pretty mild mannered guy, but it doesn't take a lot to make me angry.  There are obvious things that will cause me to blow a fuse, like when my sports team loses or whenever I have an argument.  Then there are things, like my pet peeves, which don't cause me to blow a fuse, but annoy me.  And because it usually happens in public or with people I don't know, I have to keep my feelings bottled in, which can't be healthy.  A subject like this isn't important, but these things all happened to me recently, so I have to say them.  Without further ado, here's a short list of my pet peeves.

3. People Who Walk Slow: This isn't to discriminate against people who are handicapped.  I just have a problem with healthy people who choose to walk slow when they know that there are other people behind them.  Do the people walking ahead know that other people exist or does the world revolve around them?  Sheesh, pick up the slack people. 

2. Untied Shoelaces: Untied shoelaces annoy me because the people who wear them say they do it as a fashion statement, which to me is pretty stupid.  Shoelaces were invented for a reason.  If you aren't going to use them, then wear different footwear.  No one needs to see your sloppiness.

1. Too Many Cell Phone Related Activities To Count: From one letter text responses to when a person is texting when you're having a conversation, this one doesn't need an explanation.

My Favorite Disney Songs

Like a lot of people in the world, I grew up with Disney films, so talking about them is always a special for me.  I love talking about the quality of the films themselves, but I also love talking about and listening to the songs from the films.  This thought came into my mind yesterday when I was in a car with my friend's talking about what my favorite Disney songs were.  At first, I thought that would be easy to figure out, but as I thought about it, I found that it wasn't.  There were a lot of memorable songs, but only a few I liked enough to listen to again, or had powerful lyrics that related to their characters, as well as me.  I admit, my list is biased since all the songs are from the Disney Renaissance era, but most people will agree, that's one of, if not the best era for Disney music.  Anyways, here are my top 6 songs because is my lucky number...

6. "I Won't Say (I'm In Love)" from Hercules by Susan Egan: A song that Meg sings when she's describing how she feels about Hercules.  I love the song because I love love, and because it's described how I've felt a few times.  Plus, it's a damn good song. 

5. "Go The Distance" from Hercules by Roger Bart: To most people, this song isn't as popular as "I Won't Say (I'm In Love)", but it's something relate-able, and a great song despite having few lyrics.  I mostly like this song because it inspires the need to never give up and follow your dreams.

4. "I'll Make A Man Out Of You" from Mulan by Donny Osmond: A catchy song that guys and women love.  Even as a feminist, I can't help but sing along to this song because it's lyrics are so awesome, and Donny Osmond does a great job as well.  On a side note, the Jackie Chan version is good too.  When a song from a film is equally as good in two languages, that's when you've got something special.

3. "Part Of Your World" by Jodi Benson: One of the most subtle Disney songs, but it ranks high on my list because of Jodi Benson, and because the song represents Ariel and myself perfectly; the desire to be part of a world we don't fit into.  It's also one of the Disney songs I listen to most frequently, besides my number 1 song.

2. "A Whole New World" from Aladdin by Brad Kane and Lea Salonga: I don't listen to this song much because I don't have a great version of it on my Ipod, but I watch it on Youtube and on film all the time.  This song has great lyrics like all the Disney songs, but I love it because as soon as it appears, it makes me fantasize what I'd want to do with a woman.  Just take her on a magic carpet ride, and show her the world.  Maybe it's silly, and I'm lame, but I can dream as a romantic.

1. "Out There" from The Hunchback Of Notre Dame by Tom Hulce: An underrated song from an underrated Disney film.  The Hunchback of Notre Dame wasn't as acclaimed as it's predecessors, but I love it.  This song sung by Tom Hulce as Quasimodo is beautiful.  The artwork is stunning, and it relates to an individual's need to break out, which I think is something we can all relate to.
